Im Jamie Lunn if you’ve not heard of me before you have now.
I started way back all those years ago in 1999 as a centre back for Woodhouse Junior FC progressing to that famous position of STRIKER. Then totally out of control I heard those dreaded words from my manager. “Jamie my boy Id like you to go in the net from now on.” I shuddered this as everyone knows is by far the worst place on the pitch.
As time went on I started to get into the swing of things and soon figured that stopping goals got you a bigger pat on the back as scoring them. In fact it soon became clear to say so myself that I figured I was pretty good. I must have been good as I received a trophy from what was then my coach but also my good friend the late John Clarke. Johns inspiration was everything I needed to help me progress as a goal keeper. My knowledge of goal keeping I owe to him. Cheers John.
After completing my football time with WJFC I decided another challenge was needed of me. I sat and thought what job must be worst than being a keeper. Being an intelligent lad I got it in seconds “I know Ill become the next best referee” after all I had been doing this role as an unqualified one in my parent’s relationship for years. I attended a 7 week FA refereeing course and passed first time. I ref as many games as I can at the weekend and enjoy the warm comments from parents from both home and away teams.
To further my skills I embarked on a level 1 FA coaching course and have coached all age groups from under 5s to 16s.
I am also WJFC resident goal keeping coach which I enjoy greatly I once commented to John Clarke "I'm gunna be the goalkeepers coach 1 day"
It’s an honour and a privilege to be the goalkeeping coach for Woodhouse Juniors. I just want to say once more......THANKS JOHN!!!
